Well Enough

I’d like to shoot this image for real and turn it into a series. It’s built on a quiet, uncomfortable thought: We’re fixing the world by making it worse. We swap cars for electric ones and feel a little better. But is it better? Really? Who told us we could tame the Earth? And why did we believe them? Isn’t it a kind of comfort to know that wild, patient, and ancient Mother Nature will always be stronger than us? When did Economics become our god? Who decided that growth matters more than care? Even when something helps the planet, we ask first: Does it serve the great almighty Economics? What did we feel in the silence of Covid? Wasn’t there a moment, a still point in time, where we remembered what truly matters? Who keeps us safe, teaches our children, saves lives, listens, responds, even when no one’s watching? And if we all agree they matter most, why do we still act as if they don’t?
