As Director of Photography, I had the joy of crafting a whimsical yet grounded visual world, side by side with director Martijn Smits, art director Lotte Loos, costume designer Inge de Lange and make-uo & hair artist Jacqueline Hoogendijk From the very first drafts, we envisioned a storybook reality. Colourful but slightly off-kilter, where something magical, or suspicious might lurk behind every classroom door. Think bold color contrasts and camera movement that mirrors the curiosity and rebellion of the children at its heart. This film reminds me why I fell in love with cinema in the first place: building worlds that children believe in and adults secretly wish were real.
